Ugandan President mocks Pres. Jonathan for accepting international assistance
He actually made an ignorant statement (my opinion). While speaking at a
campaign rally yesterday, Uganda’s President, Yoweri Museveni mocked
President Jonathan for accepting foreign assistance to help fight Boko
Haram. The former guerrila
fighter said he'd rather commit suicide than ask the
international community to protect his people against terrorists
“I have never called the United Nations to guard us. Me, Yoweri Museveni to say that I have failed to protect my people and I call on the UN: I would rather hang myself. We prioritized national security by developing a strong Army, otherwise our Uganda would be like DRC, South Sudan, Somalia or Nigeria where militias have disappeared with school children.
“It would be a vote of no confidence in our country and citizens if we cannot guarantee our security. What kind of persons would we be?” He said

Quote of the day from Oga Presido Goodluck Jonathan
During a #BringBackOurGirls protest in Abuja yesterday, president
Jonathan told protesters to direct their anger at Boko Haram and not at
the government. He spoke through the Minister of State for the Federal
Capital Territory, Olajumoke Akinjide, who addressed the protesters;
“We must be careful not to politicize the campaign against terrorism. When a bomb goes off in Kabul, Afghanistan, the people of Afghanistan do not blame the government, they blame the terrorists.
“When a bomb goes off in Baghdad, Iraq, the people of Iraq do not blame the government, they blame the terrorists. When a bomb goes off in Islamabad, Pakistan, the people of Pakistan do not blame the government, they blame the terrorists. When a bomb goes off in Nigeria, we must all unite to fight the terrorists."
Nicki Minaj responds to a Forbes article claiming Iggy Azalea runs Hip Hop
The comment made Nicki feel some type of way and when asked about it on Power 105′s The Breakfast Club yesterday, Nicki said;
“Listen. All Forbes needs to worry about is my finances and when I’m going to be selling Myx Fusions for $250 million. That’s all they need to worry about. We rely on hip-hop connoisseurs and blogs for that kind of information. So we appreciate it, but no thank you.”
UN blacklists Boko Haram
A statement released by the U.S. Ambassador to the
United Nations, Samantha Power says the move was to help close all avenue
of funding received by Boko Haram members
With this blacklisting, it makes it an offence for any country or individual to provide any form of support to Boko Haram. The group is now subject to an international asset freeze, travel ban and arms embargo."Today, the Security Council took an important step in support of the government of Nigeria’s efforts to defeat Boko Haram and hold its murderous leadership accountable for atrocities. By adding Boko Haram to the U.N.’s 1267 (al Qaeda) sanctions list, the Security Council has helped to close off important avenues of funding, travel and weapons to Boko Haram, and shown global unity against their savage actions,”

Jonathan may be Nigeria's last president -former Gov. Orji Uzor Kalu
"When I was travelling precisely on the 26 of April, I left this airport and I spoke to the airport correspondents and I said there was a need to collaborate with international organisations. You see, this issue is not about President Goodluck Jonathan. If we don’t take time and work together as Nigerians, Jonathan might be the last Nigerian President. Jonathan might be the Gorbachev of Nigeria. And that is the truth, so we better wake up. Political class, business class, military, civilians must now stand up to work for our internal security. Internal security is more important than anything we have done and I believe that once we are able to come together Nigeria will be alright. As of now the country is in pains; the country is in problem and some people are taking it very lightly.

In an appearance on BET's 106 and Park yesterday, 50 Cent explains;
"My son -- I haven't received an invitation. When he graduated, I was in Budapest on a movie with Melissa McCarthy, Jude Law, and Jason Statham. I think, at some point, the reason why it actually comes out is because his mom is going to TMZ. I wish she'd find someone so she could leave me alone."

Nigerian Military denies allegation of genocide in Borno
The Defence Headquarters has released a statement denying a claim today
by a Kaduna-based
cleric, Dr. Ahmad Gumi, that there is genocide going on in Borno where
security forces/vigilante groups round up young men and kill them in a
field for allegedly being Boko Haram members. (Read here).
The Defence Headquarters (DHQ) has found the latest allegation of genocide against the Nigerian military by a Kaduna based cleric as not only diversionary but unfortunate.
"The DHQ wishes to unequivocally dissociate the Nigerian military from any involvement in the alleged genocide as depicted in the graphic pictures which appeared in the front page of Blueprint newspapers of 22 May 2014 edition entitled, “Alleged Killing field in Borno”. Continue...

'Why can't Nigerians watch country's biggest movie?' - Biyi Bandele
When I heard last month that the Nigerian Film and Video Censors Board, headquartered in Abuja, had indicated that it would be unable to issue certification for "Half of a Yellow Sun" in time for the film's release date, I naturally assumed, at first, that what we were faced with was nothing more sinister than another instance of the typical, if frustrating, culture of wilful incompetence that we'd grappled with during the making of the film -- while shooting the film in Nigeria two years ago, there were times when we felt ensnared in impenetrable jungles of red tape, when we would be given the go-head by one arm of the government only to find our path blocked by the other arm.
Charlie Sheen calls Rihanna an Idiot for snubbing him &his girlfriend
Actor Charlie Sheen went ballistic on Rihanna today after the singer
snubbed him and his girlfriend at a restaurant last night. Charlie Sheen
said he took his porn star girlfriend out for her birthday at the same
restaurant as Rihanna and that his girlfriend, who is a fan had asked to
meet Rihanna. But after RiRi turned down his request for an impromptu
meet and greet, Charlie cuts loose on Rihanna via social media; Below is
what he wrote
So, I took my gal out to dinner last night with her best friends for her Bday. We heard Rihanna was present as well. I sent a request over to her table to introduce my fiancé Scotty to her, as she is a huge fan. (personally I couldn't pick her out of a line-up at gunpoint)
Well, the word we received back was that there were too many paps outside and it just wasn't possible at this time. At this time? At this time?
Lemme guess, we're to reschedule another random 11 million to 1 encounter with her some other night...? Continue...

"Dear Ms. Rihan- oh wait, no last name, Okay, Dear R - clearly English is NOT
your primary language.
Firstly I want to thank you for recognizing me as Royalty. I'm flattered. And secondly; do the good Queen a favor and go tend to the dungeon in my Castle. But beware of the rats and the snakes.

Solange to write a tell-all book about abuse, Jay Z's cheating, Bey's fake pregnancy?
I absolutely don't believe this story because what sister would do that
to her own blood? But let's carry it for entertainment purposes....:-).
According to this week's In Touch magazine, Solange is writing a
Tell-All book, and getting $20m for it. Below is what they wrote:
From cheating to abuse to fake baby bumps, Solange could reveal what's behind rumors that have plagued the famous family. . .
Solange is growing increasingly fed up with playing second fiddle to Beyonce, 32, and sources believe she's ready to spill the beans on everything from their estranged father to how Beyonce turns a blind eye to Jay Z's womanizing. "Solange was always in the background while Beyonce was the golden child," says a family friend. "She's sick of being held down and she's ready to fight back." Continue...

Soyinka says he's never referred to Patience Jonathan as 'illiterate'
Literary icon Professor Wole Soyinka in a statement released yesterday
to media houses
said that while he may have publicly chastised First Lady, Dame Patience
Jonathan, he has never referred to her as
an illiterate. He said his name is being falsely used to disrespect the
first lady and will take legal action once he finds out the source of
the lies. I recall him referring to Patience Jonathan as that woman on his CNN interview with Amanpour though. Anyway, his statement reads in part below;
"It commenced over a year ago, I seem to recollect, as a telephone text, 'tweet' or whatever it is called, died away after strong rebuttals, and is now being provided renewed life by some faceless cowards with their own private agenda. Let me state quite clearly that literacy is no indicator of intelligence, even though we all believe (I hope) in universal literacy. From childhood I have interacted with so-called "illiterate" men and women, sipped from their innate intelligence, and learnt much from them outside formal schooling"...

Son of pregnant Sudanese woman sentenced to death forced to live in her prison cell
We thought that Meriam’s story could not get any worse, but it has. It turns out that while a very pregnant Meriam awaits her death sentence in prison, her precious little boy has been forced to live inside her prison cell with her. Meriam will also have to care for her unborn baby in that cell once it is born.
The UN is intervening and trying to save an 8 month pregnant woman from the death penalty in Sudan who married a Christian man….
Reports claim that the Sudanese government will not allow Martin’s father to care for him while Meriam is in prison solely because he is both a Christian and an American citizen. Continue...
