Mystery ghost fleet containing 20 dead sailors washes up in Japan

A fleet of 11 ghost ships containing the rotting remains of at least 20 sailors has washed up on the Japanese coastline, sparking an investigation in the country. The mysterious ships have given rise to numerous conspiracy theories in the country, as authorities battle to discover the identities of the bodies.

Rescuers told Japanese broadcaster NHK that the bodies of 20 sailors were ‘badly decomposed’ and ‘skeleton-like’

Lagos moves to boost office of the public defender

The Lagos State Government has pledged its commitment towards boosting the Office of the Public Defender (OPD) to perform optimally as part of efforts to ensure the protection of the rights of the people.
Attorney General of the State and Commissioner for Justice, Mr. Adeniji Kazeem, who made the pledge while meeting with the State leadership of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), said the administration of Governor Akinwunmi Ambode would focus more on people-oriented policies and give the OPD maximum support.

Former police officer accused of shootout hoax found dead

A former part-time Massachusetts police officer accused of shooting up his own patrol cruiser and calling in a hoax bomb threat has died after apparently committing suicide.
Bryan Johnson, 24, was found dead early Thanksgiving morning in his Millis, Mass. home, the Norfolk District Attorney’s Office said.

APC nominates Yahaya Bello as late Prince Audu’s replacement

The All Progressives Congress (APC) yesterday nominated Alhaji Yahaya Bello as the party’s new candidate to replace late Audu for Kogi governorship supplementary poll.

Bello will replace Abubakar Audu, who was leading the polls with 41,000 but died suddenly last weekend. It was also learnt that the APC has retained Hon. James Abiodun Faleke as the party’s deputy governorship candidate.

Biloxi police Sgt. Donnie Dobbs said Julie Brightwell, 52, who was an employee of a Waffle house in Biloxi, Miss. was shot in the head after arguing with a customer about smoking inside the restaurant around 1 a.m. Friday because the restaurant had a no smoking policy.

Idris Elba talks about the time he almost died on set

43-year-old actor and father of two recounted the time he nearly died while filming Beasts Of No Nation on location in Africa. Appearing on the Jonathan Ross Show, he spoke of how he slipped six feet down a waterfall.

He explained: 'We decided to do this waterfall scene where all these child soldiers were walking behind this massive waterfall. In Hollywood you would have just filmed a bit of water coming down and just shot people’s closeups but Cary Fukunaga, the director, decided to shoot it for real.'

Samson Siasia's mother released by kidnappers

The mother of Nigeria's U-23 coach, Samson Siasia, Madame Ogere Siasia, 72, who was abducted from her home in Bayelsa on November 17th has been released by her kidnappers. The woman was released a few days ago unharmed. The Bayelsa police command confirmed her release but did not say if a ransom was paid for her release or if anyone has been arrested.

A notorious 'godfather' who sold machines guns to criminals in Birmingham while at the heart of a gang which gunned down two innocent girls in a botched attack has been jailed for 16 years. Nigerian Nosakhere Stephenson, 41, (pictured left) masterminded an operation to sell antique firearms and specially-made bullets to criminals around the West Midlands city. Fitzroy Ducram (right), known as one of Nosa's right hand men was jailed for more than seven years.

Ex-Apple employee left his house so filthy neighbours thought there was a dead body inside

37-year-old Robert Kummer, a former Apple employee, has been jailed for a year for causing £5000 worth of damage to a house that had cost the owner €160000 to renovate. He left piles of rubbish so high they reached the countertops and smeared excrement on the walls, floors and ceilings of the flat.

Multiple suicide attack leaves 10 people dead in Cameroon

No fewer than 10 people are feared dead and many others injured after a 4 Boko Haram suicide bombers attacked the village of Nigue, a suburb of Fotokol town, in Far North of Cameroon. "The initial figures speak of 10 dead including the suicide bombers and around a dozen wounded," a senior Cameroonian army commander told the Reuters news agency.

Man leaves Thai waitress working legally in the US a 'disgusting' racist message as a 'tip'

People have rallied around a waitress that was left a 'disgusting' racist message and no tip on a receipt recently by a diner. The man had a meal by himself at the Bamboo Thai Bistro in Redondo Beach and was served by a Thai waitress, who has a visa to work in the US. When it was time to pay the bill, the man - named on the receipt as Jason Paul Naglich - left nothing, instead writing: 'Tip for U.S. citizens only.' How sad!

A woman has been arrested after a mum-to-be's throat was slit and her baby girl cut from her womb. 
Ashley Wade, 22, allegedly killed Angelikque Sutton, who was eight months pregnant , and tried to pass the newborn baby off as her own. 
The sickening attack reportedly happened at Wade's apartment in the Bronx, New York, at around 2.20pm Friday afternoon.
Wade allegedly slashed Sutton, also 22, across the neck then cut the baby from her womb as she lay dead or dying, the New York Post reported.

Funeral home director arrested after bodies found in garage

Police have arrested a funeral director after three decomposed bodies were found in a Strawberry Mansion garage back in August. Janet Powell-Dailey, 72, of Powell Funeral Home is facing multiple charges including abuse of a corpse and theft.
Investigators say the three bodies were left in the hot, dingy garage for an extended period of time after being dropped off by a nursing home to the funeral home around the corner.

The UN Security Council met yesterday and called on countries to take 'all necessary measures' to fight ISIS in Syria and Iraq, in the wake of the attacks in France, Tunisia, Turkey, Lebanon and the downing of a Russian passenger plane over Egypt.
